Planning, preparation, organisation of the “European Exam” in Latvia.

The European Commission Representation in Latvia (hereinafter referred to as ECR), in cooperation with partners all over Latvia, implements various projects and activities dedicated to the Europe Day in the first half of the year until the fist half of May. The “European Exam”, the Open Days, the “Back to School”, as well as various initiatives organised by schools, municipalities, public authorities, non-governmental organisations and interest groups have become the tradition of the Europe Day. The aim of these activities is to strengthen Latvian citizens’ sense of belonging to Europe and its values of solidarity, human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, human rights, recalling that we are an integral part of Europe and strengthening this awareness through themes and activities close to every Latvian citizen. “European Exam” is an ECR project aimed at increasing the knowledge of European Union issues for every citizen of Latvia, and in particular schoolchildren and students. The format of the exam is an online test covering different aspects of the European Union, current affairs and other EU-related issues. Through the “European Exam” project, the ECR raises awareness among students, teachers, parents and the wider public about the issues on the EU agenda, recalls the EU’s values, major events and opportunities. The ‘European Exam’ is a complex enquiry process to promote curiosity, interest, awareness of every citizens as an important part of Latvia and the European Union.
