The overall objective of this project is to reduce depletion of natural resources used in production processes and amount of waste generated by promoting usage of secondary raw materials and enhancing market for high quality recyclables. In order to contribute to the sustainable development, the contract will include technical assistance and institutional capacity building activities for identification and effective implementation of end-of-waste criteria for specific waste streams. Mainly, current situation in Turkey will be assessed by means of demanding sectors of waste streams such as metal, scrap, glass cullet, copper scrap, waste paper, biodegradable waste, waste plastic, textile waste etc. Besides, draft technical regulations on establishing criteria determining when certain types of materials cease to be waste, will be prepared compatible with Turkish context. Also guiding documents as draft regulations, roadmap and guidelines will be composed as the national strategy.
