Full official description

Many emerging and developing countries point to the need for capacity building for transparency and for modelling needed for the development of climate strategies, policies and NDCs. The first and second iteration of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) submitted to the UNFCCC, suggest that many countries would benefit from improved data and modelling, to better understand the potential for domestic climate action and policies and for evidence-based policymaking. This contract intends to alleviate a part of this gap by supporting experts based in relevant institutes in selected developing countries to enhance the national capacity to model climate policy, project national greenhouse gas emissions, prepare targets and estimate the impacts of domestic policies and measures, as well as to track progress towards the achievement of their NDCs.The contract should also support experts’ participation in meetings that are of interest to the modelling community.
