Description
Disclaimer: the description of the nature and scope of the services and supplies of the Space Traffic Coordination Platform procurement is only indicative, aimed at outlining the concept in broad terms and it may need substantial adjustments. Therefore it shall not be considered final nor binding. The EU Platform for Space Traffic Coordination aims to address the exponential increase in active satellites and the associated risks of orbital collisions, including those posed by large constellations. The initiative seeks to structure, secure and expand coordination between satellite operators, public entities and commercial SSA providers, building on existing services developed under EU Space Surveillance and Tracking (EU SST). It is intended to extend coordination beyond current EU SST members by enabling the collection and processing of key information, such as contact details and manoeuvre data from non-registered or international actors. The proposed platform should facilitate the secure, real-time exchange of operational data and ensure interoperability between the different actors involved in space traffic activities. The action should include the implementation of a sandbox to test and assess the “rules of the road”, providing a controlled environment to evaluate their practical application and support validation prior to broader implementation. In addition, the initiative will include engagement and awareness-raising activities aimed at identifying the needs and expectations of EU Member States, satellite operators and SSA providers (public and private).
