This Technical Assistance action is part of the EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package. It addresses several connectivity priorities and promotes key EU principles like sustainability and good governance. The objective of the action is to improve the implementation of international maritime safety and labour standard and the quality of maritime administrations in the Philippines and Indonesia. More specifically, this action will focus on upgrading seafarers' education, training and working conditions focusing on the Philippines, with a smaller component allocated to Indonesia and the ASEAN region. The project will contribute to enhancing maritime safety in the region and globally. Finally, it will contribute to establishing an ASEAN network of maritime education and training institutes and industry in the light of futureproofing seafarers’ skills focusing on “green transition”, “sustainability”, “women’s empowerment” and “digitalisation.”
