Description
The European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Karlsruhe (Germany) plans to sell approximately 7.7 grams of Radium-226 (Ra-226), a valuable resource from its our strategic inventory utilised for cutting-edge research and development in nuclear medical applications. This includes applications in the production of Actinium-225 (Ac-225) for the use of targeted alpha therapy. Following a surge of demand for Ac-225, Ra-226 material serves as a crucial source material for producing it as well as other valuable medical radioisotopes, such as Lead-212 (Pb-212). With a growing demand and limited supply for Ra-226, the JRC Karlsruhe wants to contribute to the medical isotope supply chain. The expertise along with the state-of-the-art assets at JRC Karlsruhe, equips it to contribute effectively to this critical field. This sale is meant to bolster the availability of Ra-226 for medical applications and further the advancement of nuclear medicine.
