Full official description
An automated DNA/RNA extraction system, based on the use of the magnetic bead technology, would allow to increase the speed and throughput capacity of the lab, but also, and more importantly, to improve the consistency of the extraction of the nucleic acids, increasing precision and reducing variability and pipetting errors. Another important aspect is the minimal risk of cross-contamination. The laboratory will also have the magnetic bead technology as an additional procedure to be able to compare with the currently implemented manual and kit-based DNA extraction methods based on DNA purification using columns. Performing DNA extraction of all the samples to be analysed during homogeneity studies of proficiency test materials will also be advantageous for ensuring the repeatability conditions of such experiments.
